Councillor John Ungar delivered the 1300+ signature Old Town Cycleway petition to East Sussex County Council yesterday.
The petition started on 27th June so that works out at around 80 signatures a day – pretty good going. The online petition collected around 500 signatures and the rest were pen and paper.
Now we need to wait for East Sussex County Council’s response. Officers will consider past decisions and send a report to Councillor Carl Maynard, the lead member for Transport and the Environment.

The response to the petition shows that this isn’t a minority interest. All sorts of different people want a safe cycle route in the West of Eastbourne and are willing to work to make it happen.
