Despite stormy skies, 25 riders lit up the streets of Eastbourne on Wednesday, 22nd October for Bespoke Cycle Group’s first-ever Glow Ride—a vibrant, high-visibility evening ride inspired by Cycling UK’s national campaign to champion cycling as a right for everyone.
Starting at The Rodmill pub, the group braved the weather in glowing gear and reflective kit, riding a 4-mile loop through Eastbourne Hospital, Hampden Park station, and Shinewater. The route highlighted key areas where safer cycling infrastructure could make a real difference for commuters, families, and NHS staff.
As the nights draw in, many women feel forced to choose between busy roads or dark, isolated paths. That’s not right.
Everyone deserves to move through our town with confidence. We think our Glow Ride is a bold, visible way to say: we want safe, welcoming routes all year round.
We come in all shapes, sizes, and ages—but we’re united by our right to travel freely.

Bespoke Cycle Group is a volunteer-led organisation working to make Eastbourne safer and more inclusive for cyclists of all ages and abilities. From campaigning for protected lanes to hosting community rides like this one, Bespoke is building momentum for change—one illuminated pedal stroke at a time.
