Join Bespoke, Bexhill Wheelers, Bexhill Classic Cycle Club and Hastings Urban Bikes on the Pier to Pier cycle ride from Eastbourne to Hastings on Saturday 21st May 2016!
Meet at the entrance to Eastbourne pier at 11am, for an 11.15 start (some riders will be gathering at Towner Art Gallery cafe from about 10am). We will be passing The De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill at about 12.30pm.
The ride is timed to coincide with the re-opening of Hastings pier celebrations; the 950th anniversary of The Battle of Hastings celebrations and the launch of The Coastal Culture Trail cycle map and guide.
All makes and models of bicycle encouraged on this leisurely, mainly off-road and family-friendly ride. Any dress code is welcome – among the Classic Cycle Group vintage attire is always welcome and admired.
A particular call for penny farthings to join the ride (but may have to detour the no-go shingle sections by road and re-join the main group of cyclists).
Distance of ride is 16 miles from Eastbourne Pier to Hastings Pier – about two hours. We hope to have the prevailing westerly wind behind us. Options for refreshment stops include Norman’s Bay Camping and Caravanning Club, De La Warr Pavilion and Glyne Gap cafe.
There are five railway stations along the route for return if you don’t want to cycle back.
